Extended family focus of new style by Bill Roark - posted Thursday, March 7th, 2013 @ 12:00 pm The housing market is once again looking at the house of the future that meets the needs of a sizable segment of homebuyers.
Two weeks ago I wrote on the development of "Pocket Neighborhoods" as a new concept where a developer clusters 10 to 20 smaller homes with common amenities for a safer, more close-knit neighborhood in walking distance to restaurants, retail, churches, etc.
There is another growing market for what is called the "Next Gen" house. As more families experience the move-back syndrome with adult children or the move-in syndrome with aging parents, they are finding that their current home makes this adjustment difficult and creates unwanted conflict.
The "Next Gen" as a new building floor plan was first introduced in the western states and has quickly moved to states closer to home such as Texas and Georgia. .....
