Monroe Schools superintendent search narrows

The search for the next Monroe City Schools superintendent is nearing completion as the superintendent search committee narrowed its list of finalists for the job to 10.

The search committee convened an executive session last week and tallied scores of the applicants.

The 10 semi-finalists included Billye Burns, David Claxton, Valerie Fields, Mary Guinn, Roy Higgins, Charles Michel, Mary Nash Robinson, Brenda Shelling, Tammye Turpin and Brent Vidrine.

The Monroe City School Board requested the superintendent search committee provide a list of 10 semi-finalists based on the highest-ranking applicants from the original pool of 19 applications.
