The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) is responsible for writing playing rules for 17 boys' and girls' high school sports. This past year, it made several rule changes for spring sports, which will go into effect this upcoming 2013 season.
In the sport of baseball, coaches are prohibited from using any objects other than a stopwatch, hard copy rule book and scorebook in the coaches' box.
Also, the use of video monitoring or replay equipment for coaching purposes during the course of the game will not be allowed. In addition, the head umpire may allow a substitute pitcher to throw more than eight warm-up pitches in cases of an injury, ejection or inclement weather.
