OCOG renews rural transit grant for senior center by Zach Parker - posted Thursday, January 31st, 2013 @ 12:00 pm The West Ouachita Senior Center Public Transit received approval on Monday from the Ouachita Council of Governments for operating funds to support a rural transit system.
The council's unanimous approval came on the tail end of a series of grant applications adding more vans, additions to the community and senior center as well as the construction of a vehicle garage.
The west Ouachita public transit system, governed by the city of West Monroe, applied to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for an operating assistance grant of $77,582.
"It's basically a grant renewal," said David Creed, executive director of OCOG. "This is something the West Ouachita Senior Center public transit applies for every year." ....
