Monroe City Schools closed out the 2012 fiscal year with a $1.59 million surplus, an audit said.
Certified public accountant Francis Huffman delivered the audit to the School Board Tuesday during its regular meeting.
The audit also showed a decrease in the school system's general fund surplus of $1.59 million. Huffman said it was a planned decrease in the surplus.
"This was a planned decrease by the board during the past fiscal year," Huffman said. "Even though it was a decrease, it was a planned decrease."
