Band of brothers with their sons
by Robert Charles Payne - posted Thursday, December 20th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm

Many years ago when our sons were very young, we four brothers spent part of Thanksgiving and Christmas spending time in the large woods of Bienville Parish.

My Uncle Steve Lymberis owned three hundred acres joined with several hundred more acres that were part of a reserve. We would packed up our camping belongings and camp in the middle of the three hundred acres that bordered along side a pipe line that ran through the property and a Federal Reserve.

We usually spent around a week total during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone killed a deer except me. I was certainly not the great white hunter and this left my oldest son at a clear disadvantage. I enjoyed the camping, but I never adapted to freezing weather before daybreak.
