2012 LHSAA Prep Classic kicks off Friday in dome

The 2012 LHSAA/ State Farm Prep Classic starts at 4. pm. on Friday, Dec. 7 and continues until Dec. 8.

Below you can find capsules for each class state championship game.

Class 1A State Championship
No. 2 Haynesville Golden Tornado (12-2) vs. No. 1 Ouachita Christian (14-0)
When: Friday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.
Path to the dome: HHS - Christian Life, 28-0; Oberlin, 38-0; Westminster, 34-17; West St. John, 36-35. OCS - Sacred Heart, 43-15; Oak Grove, 28-0; Southern Lab, 44-8; Kentwood, 35-0.
Last meeting: Haynesville beat OCS 15-14 in the 1989.
Players to watch: HHS- RB CaVontae Critton, QB Jerrell Jackson; OCS: QB/WR Braden Bristo, QB Quin Graves, WR/LB Colby Webb, LB Jordan Washam, RB Ahkeem Henderson.
Noteworthy: HHS coach David Franklin is the son of legendary Haynesville coach Alton "Red" Franklin. OCS has won 29 straight games and is the defending Class 1A champions. Haynesville holds claim to 15 state titles.

Class 2A State Championship
No. 2 Evangel Eagles (12-2) vs. No.1 John Curtis Patriots (13-0)
When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at Noon.
Path to the dome: ECA - Capital, 54-16; Rosepine, 41-14; Carver, 62-26; University Lab, 52-45. JC - Pope John Paul II, 64-0; North Webster, 50-6; Riverside, 62-10; Springfield, 55-0.
Players to watch: ECA - QB Dakota Duron, WR Jared Cornelius, WR/DB Trent Taylor, RB Javin Webb, LB X'Zavier Preston. JC - RB Sherman Badie, WR Malachi Dupre,
Noteworthy: Curtis has a string of highly regarded recruits, including Badie. Duron passed for 2,968 yards and 32 TDs in the regular season. Cornelius and Preston each have more than 1,000 yards receiving. Evangel has won 13 state titles since 1993. Curtis has won 25 of its 30 appearances in the title games over its storied history.

Class 3A State Championship
No. 2 Notre Dame Pioneers (12-1) vs. No. 1 Parkview Baptist Eagles (13-0)
When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.
Path to the dome: PBS – Erath, 45-14; Brusly, 32-28; North DeSoto, 62-21; Livonia, 49-6. ND – Patterson, 38-26; St. Charles Catholic, 27-7; Iowa, 35-0; East Feliciana, 16-14.
Players to watch: PBS - RB Hezekiah Randolph, QB Brennan Bozeman, ND - RB, Luke Broussard, QB Brad Stoma, WR Nicholas Benoit.
Noteworthy: Notre Dame's Luke Broussard has run for 1,448 yards and 14 TDs. Randolph leads Parkview with more than 1,200 rushing yards in a balanced offensive attack. This is Notre Dame's seventh trip to the state finals since 2000, having won state titles in 2000 and 2009. Parkview has won four out of its five trips to the dome since 2000. Notre Dame beat Parkview. 14-7, to win the 2009 title.

Class 4A State Championship
No. 2 Edna Karr Tigers (13-0) vs. No. 1 Neville Tigers (13-0)
When: Friday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m.
Path to the dome: EKHS – Peabody, 50-6; Northwood, 50-0; St. Augustine, 28-12; Holy Cross, 28-16. NHS – St. Louis, 40-10; Breaux Bridge, 41-21; Vandebilt Catholice, 51-14; McDonogh 35, 29-8.
JC - Pope John Paul II, 64-0; North Webster, 50-6; Riverside, 62-10; Springfield, 55-0.
Players to watch: NHS – QB/ATH John Diarse, LB Lawrence Jones, WR/ATH Andre Fuller II, LB, Ashari Goins; EKHS - TE Standish Dobard, DB Noel Ellis, QB Speedy Noil, DE Gerald Willis, LB Elcee Refuge
Noteworthy: Diarse, an LSU commitment, has run for more than 1,000 yards and passed for more than 1,000 yards. Goins leads a heady Neville defense, and Jones is also an SEC caliber recruit with speed and size. Dobard (Miami) and Ellis (Texas A&M) have already committed to major colleges. Noil has more than 2,000 yards passing and 1,200 yards rushing. Karr is in the 4A title game for the third straight year. Neville seeks its third title in four years.

Class 5A State Championship
No. 2 Barbe Buccaneers (12-1) vs. No. 1 Archbishop Rummel Raiders (13-0)
When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m.
Path to the dome: BHS – Terrebonne, 24-7; Byrd, 38-21; Parkway 45-35; West Monroe, 49-48. AR – Lafayette, 49-7; Dutchtown, 21-10; Ouachita, 23-19; Mandeville, 17-14. Players to watch: BHS - QB Kennon Fontenot, RB Courtney Galentine, WR Trey Quinn, AR - QB Damian Williams,
Noteworthy: Cuiellette has passed for 2,259 yards and 25 TDs, completing 162 of 287 passes. Boudreaux has 60 catches for 1,134 and 10 TDs. Fontenot has passed for 3,701 yards and 39 TDs for Barbe. Smith, an LSU commitment, has 682 receiving yards for the Bucs. Only Barbe's second trip in school history to state finals.
