Deer hunts score big points with youth

Leading youth in hunting exercises keeps Louisiana's outdoor sports alive as well as investing time in our youth, instilling values they can pass on to future generations.
Over the Thanksgiving break, we were able to have our niece and nephews visit us at our camp in Jackson Parish. The 14-year-old twins, Lauren and Harrison Duncan, and 16-year-old Christopher Duncan were able to harvest their first buck.
Lauren took a three-point buck with a primitive H&H 45-70 rifle that kicked like a mule but she was all griwn deer to find and haul back to the skinning rack. Previously, she had hunted two years with us and had never seen a deer on the stand. She had a feeling this was the time.
