A campaign promise to build a new multi-purpose arena in Monroe took a step forward Tuesday night when the Monroe City Council unanimously approved hiring a consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study of the proposed project.

Jackson, Miss.-based M3A Inc. will conduct a $95,000 study to determine whether it would be feasible for the city to build a new arena.
