A campaign promise to build a new multi-purpose arena in Monroe took a step forward Tuesday night when the Monroe City Council unanimously approved hiring a consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study of the proposed project.
Jackson, Miss.-based M3A Inc. will conduct a $95,000 study to determine whether it would be feasible for the city to build a new arena. The study will include working with a community steering committee to identify potential sites for the proposed facility, an outline of design goals and possible ways to pay for it.
The City Council signed off on hiring M3A Inc. at its regular meeting.
