Blanchard: Time to reach out, appreciate life

There are many things these days for us to be stressed about — the economy, politics, jobs, children, etc. Each of us can add our own concerns to the list.

But this week is Thanksgiving, and we are reminded to be thankful for our many blessings. Some people are finding it hard to be thankful under these circumstances. On the other hand, there are those people that life has handed more than their share of pain and suffering, yet they still remain hopeful.

When using the term "optimistic," it is in a general sense, not to describe someone who sees the world like Peter Pan.
