Monroe City Council eyes sewer fee hike
by Michael DeVault - posted Thursday, November 15th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm

Customers of the City of Monroe's water system will see a spike in sewer rates beginning as soon as next month if the Monroe City Council moves forward with a plan to increase sewer fees.

The City Council unanimously approved introduction of an ordinance to raise sewer rates 55 percent beginning as soon as possible. Before the rate increase can take effect, though, the City Council must approve final adoption of the rate hikes.

That vote is set for the City Council's next regular meeting, which is scheduled for Nov. 27.

The City Council approved introduction of the ordinance to raise sewer rates during its regular meeting Tuesday.
