Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney may have carried Louisiana and earned the state's eight electoral votes, but victory in the Bayou State was not enough to overcome a resurgent re-election effort by President Barack Obama.
Obama handily dispatched Romney, carrying both the Electoral College and the national popular vote to win a second term.
Following the election, Gov. Bobby Jindal weighed in.
"I want to congratulate President Obama on running and winning a hard-fought campaign," Jindal said. "I also want to congratulate Governor Romney. The Governor ran a strong race and he and his team should be proud of the effort they waged."
