Rally raises veil on domestic violence

Jeslyn Lewis knows what it is like to be held at gunpoint by her spouse.

After all, Lewis struggled with the effects of domestic violence for more than a decade. She shared details of her story Wednesday morning on the steps of the Ouachita Parish Courthouse at a rally held to raise awareness of the effects of domestic abuse.

"For almost 15 years, because those things didn't happen to me every day, I minimized what I was going through," Lewis said.

Lewis recounted her story as one of several speakers at the domestic abuse awareness rally. It was organized by Michelle Anderson, a prosecutor with the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
