Jeslyn Lewis knows what it is like to be held at gunpoint by her spouse.
After all, Lewis struggled with the effects of domestic violence for more than a decade. She shared details of her story Wednesday morning on the steps of the Ouachita Parish Courthouse at a rally held to raise awareness of the effects of domestic abuse.
"For almost 15 years, because those things didn't happen to me every day, I minimized what I was going through," Lewis said.
Lewis recounted her story as one of several speakers at the domestic abuse awareness rally. It was organized by Michelle Anderson, a prosecutor with the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
