Styx to perform at Bossier casino on Nov. 10

In more than 40 years of touring, the Chicago-based rock band Styx has packed coliseums and arenas around the globe.

Come Nov. 10, though, the band will bring its powerful musical stylings to a much smaller venue at the Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City.

Lead singer and keyboardist Lawrence Gowan said the band enjoys "taking a break" and playing to smaller audiences, a practice they began about six years ago with a series of shows at the House of Blues.

"It was an amazing thing that happened," Gowan told The Ouachita Citizen. "It was like the band realized that, as much as we love playing the gigantic places, there are certain little pockets throughout the year where we like to go and play the small, intimate venues that only hold about a thousand people."
