EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is the first of a two-part series examining nine proposed amendments to the state Constitution and one local option vote on the Nov. 6 ballot. The second part of this series will appear in this space in the Oct. 18 edition of The Ouachita Citizen.

When voters go to the polls Nov. 6, they will be asked to consider nine constitutional amendments and one local option proposition that, together, mark significant changes to Louisiana law.

Ahead of the vote on the 10 changes, the Public Affairs Research Council, or PAR, published a guide to the constitutional amendments and local option.
PAR is a non-partisan, privately funded research group that provides information concerning public affairs to Louisiana citizens.

The "PAR Guide to the 2012 Constitutional Amendments" outlined the proposed changes to existing laws as well as provided a "pros and cons" analysis of each proposed change.
