Parish unemployment rate steady

Unemployment rates in Ouachita Parish remain relatively stable, in spite of continued concerns about a slowing economic recovery.

Louisiana Workforce Commission reported the parish's unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in August. That's essentially unchanged from a year ago, when 8 percent of the parish workforce was job hunting.

Statewide, the employment picture continued to outpace national trends.
