Obituaries published on April 12, 2012 posted Thursday, April 12th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm Dorothy Elizabeth Breese Grant Dorothy Elizabeth Breese Grant, age 97, of Houston, Texas, died Easter Day, the 8th of April 2012, in Houston. Dorothy, also known as Maw Maw and Aunt Dot, was born on the 20th of March 1915 in Trenton (now West Monroe), to Frank C. Breese Sr. and Dora Monteith Breese. She was educated in Ouachita Parish schools and attended business school after high school. In 1937, she married E. Bailey Grant, also of West Monroe, to whom she remained married for 68 years until his death in 2005. After service in World War II, Bailey ran for Ouachita Parish Sheriff, was elected, and served in that office for 32 years. After he retired, he and Dot moved to Pearland, Texas, to be near their daughter Bennie and her family. After her husband died, Dorothy moved to Houston. Except her job at Milner Fuller as a young woman, she was a homemaker all her life, raising their daughter and supporting her husband in his career. She enjoyed community activities, most notably the Junior Charity League and the Bobashelas Book Club of West Monroe, of which she was a lifetime member for more than 60 years. Mrs. Grant was predeceased by her parents and by her four siblings, Alma Breese (Mrs. Louis) Gimler, Neva Breese (Mrs. Florence L.) Jones and Frank C. Breese, Jr., all of Monroe, Louisiana, and Helen Breese (Mrs. David L.) Croom of Monahans, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Bennie Breese Grant Hall and son-in-law, The Reverend Dr. Laurens Allen Hall, of Houston, Texas; grandson, Grant Allen Hall and wife, Allison Quayle Hall, and children, William Quayle Hall and Daisy Grace Hall of Houston, Texas; grandson, Oliver Wilton Hall of Austin, Texas; and granddaughter, Bailey Elizabeth Hall Kinney and husband, Benjamin Kane Kinney, and children, Kane Elizabeth Kinney and Trotter Hall Kinney of Houston, Texas. Dorothy was proud to be aunt to numerous loving nieces and nephews. The memorial service was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the 11th of April, in the chapel of The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd. in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall, Rector, officiated. The interment service was conducted in Louisiana at 11 a.m. Thursday, the 12th of April, at Riverview Cemetery, 100 Standifer Ave. at South Grand Street in Monroe. John H. Hale John H. Hale, 71 of Calhoun, a retired courier, passed away April 8, 2012. His funeral services was at 10 a.m. today, April 12, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Edwina Marie Tinsley Edwina Marie Tinsley, 77, of West Monroe, passed away April 10, 2012. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Flora Cemetery in Flora, Miss. Visitation is Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
