A course of instruction for ELECTION COMMISSIONERS for Ouachita Parish will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012, beginning at 12:00 noon, at the Monroe Civic Center, Ouachita-Jackson Room in the new pavilion.
You will be instructed then given a written examination. If a passing grade is made on the examination, your name will then be placed on the master list of qualified Election Commissioners for Ouachita Parish, good for the term of the Clerk of Court.
To serve as a certified commissioner, one must be a qualified voter who is not entitled to assistance in voting, shall not be a candidate for public office in the election, nor be a child, brother, sister, parent or spouse of a candidate for election to public office in the precinct in which he serves, not have been convicted of an election offense, shall have attended a course of instruction for commissioners, and not be a law enforcement officer.
If you have ever considered working as an Election Commissioner, please attend this school and become certified to work.

NOTICE
Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the West Ouachita Sewerage District No. 5, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Taken at the office of the district, 327 Wallace Road, West Monroe, LA, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012. (regular meeting)
Members present: Fred Hall, Don Leach, Ralph Owens
Members absent: None
Others present: Jerry Lazenby, Lazenby & Associates, Inc.; Terry Cox, district manager
The first item on the agenda was cash disbursements. Mr. Cox presented the disbursements for the month and a brief discussion followed. Commissioner Owens made a motion to accept the disbursements as reasonable and necessary, and Commissioner Leach seconded the motion. Motion unanimously approved by voice vote.
Motion by Commissioner Leach, seconded by Commissioner Owens to authorize President Hall to enter into and execute Amendment #1 to the existing license for underground pipelines, cables and conduits with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Company (now the Kansas City Railroad Company) for the connection of the new (replacement) force main from Lift Station "N" to the existing 18" ductile iron force main on the north side of the KCS Railroad tracks subject to the favorable review of the board's legal counsel. Motion unanimously approved by voice vote.
At the request of commissioners, the Feb. 13, 2012, meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. instead of the usual 11 a.m.
No further business being presented, the meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
