Elliot Engel returns for ESU

For two terrific years in the 18th century, the pirate Edward Teach trolled the eastern seaboard of the United States, pillaging his way up and down the coast from the West Indies in the Caribbean to Charleston Bay.

Thursday, March 1, noted historian Dr. Elliot Engel will take to the podium at Bayou DeSiard Country Club to tell the English Speaking Union all about the pirate, known to history as Blackbeard.

The ESU hosts Engel each year in what has become the organization's largest event, according to ESU member Fred Huenefeld.

"He's the top draw for the English Speaking Union," said Huenefeld. "He's our No. 1 man."
