Amman announces for Monroe City Court judge's race posted Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 @ 10:29 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  Monroe attorney Fred Amman announced Wednesday evening that he will be a candidate for the Division B seat at Monroe City Court, which is being vacated by Judge Scott Leehy. A special election is expected to be held next spring. Leehy was elected Saturday to the Fourth Judicial District Court bench. Amman served as Monroe City Court Judge Pro Tempore from March 3, 2000, to Dec. 31, 2000. He cited his experience as a Monroe City Court judge in 2000 and his 32 years practicing law as reasons he's qualified to serve as the Division B jurist at Monroe City Court. Amman was a candidate for judge to the Fourth Judicial District Court 10 years ago. He garnered 60 percent of the vote in Monroe during that campaign. Amman is a graduate of Neville High School, Tulane University and the Paul M. Hebert School of Law at LSU. Amman will announce formally at a later date.
