Family Forum of Louisiana awarded Rep. Mike Walsworth with its Family Advocate Award for 2007, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

The news release was issued jointly by Family Forum and Walsworth.

Walsworth was recognized for his pro-life voting record in 2007. He voting record reflected 100 percent support on pro-life issues.

"We commend Rep. Walsworth for championing family values in the Louisiana Legislature," said Family Forum's Gene Mills. "Mike is part of a strong network of pro-family leaders in Louisiana – leaders who are willing to stand up and speak out for our families."

"I am pro-life and always will be," Walsworth said. "This is an award I appreciate as a legislator who stands up for family values and votes as a strong advocate for pro-family and pro-life legislation."

"I will always work to represent a solid pro family philosophy and vote to strengthen the family with tax credits and lowering the tax burden on families with children," Walsworth added.

Walsworth has received the Family Forum award five times.

The news release pointed out that Walsworths' opponent in the Senate race, Rep. Charles McDonald, had a 50 percent voting record on pro-life issues in 2007.
