DA awaits complaint from Toney

Fourth Judicial District Attorney Jerry Jones said Wednesday afternoon he had not received a formal, written complaint from former Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney alleging a federal prosecutor threatened him when he was under investigation by the FBI.

Jones said Toney made an oral complaint about the allegation on the telephone last week. Jones forwarded the information to the state Attorney General's Office because, according to Jones, the alleged threat was made in Caddo Parish.

Toney contends Assistant U.S. Attorney Mignonne Griffing told his former attorney, Marty Stroud of Shreveport, that she would have Toney arrested and "perp walked" out of his office if Toney did not quit spreading gossip about her relationship with FBI agent Bill Chesser.
