The State Police report pertaining to the Winnsboro woman who authorities say fabricated a story claiming she was attacked and set on fire was sent to the Fifth Judicial District Attorney's office last week.

D.A. Mack Lancaster's office said it is beginning to view the details of the case on Monday pertaining to 20-year-old Sharmeka Moffitt, who has been recovering from severe burns at her Franklin Parish home upon being released from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in December.

Authorities said Moffitt called police Oct. 21 alleging she was attacked by three men in white hoodies who set her on fire while she was walking at Civitan Park.
Authorities found the letters "KKK" and a racial slur written in toothpaste on the hood of Moffitt's car.

Evidence collected at the scene cast doubt about Moffitt's story. Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas said authorities linked Moffitt's fingerprints to a lighter and a bottle of lighter fluid found at the scene.
