KWMB launches reading initiative
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
As part of its reorganizational efforts, Keep West Monroe Beautiful (KWMB) has launched a "green" reading initiative in West Monroe elementary schools.

KWMB will present copies of the book "The Quad Squad in: Be Smart … Do Your Part!" to all second-grade grade students in City of West Monroe elementary schools. The book distribution will launch Keep West Monroe Beautiful's efforts to reorganize and become active once again in the community.

The initial book distribution took place on Thursday, Feb. 28, at Highland Elementary School. KWMB committee members were in attendance to read the book aloud to students.

"The Quad Squad in: Be Smart … Do Your Part!" teaches children the importance of litter abatement, beautification and conservation. The book was written by Cindy G. Foust under the direction of the Rotary Club of Monroe. The project was made possible through a grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
