We are always talking fish at church and this time I asked Eddie if he would help word the facts for a timetable for crappie fishing here in Northeast Louisiana. Being the gracious person he is, he explained the patterning of crappie simply: pre-spawn, spawn, post-spawn and summer. Pre-Spawn is February to March, with water temperatures at 52-60 degrees. The holding pattern of fish, in waters 12-20 feet deep, depends on the lake or river. They hold there, and feed on shad and small insects, they hold at different depths on different temperatures.
