Caldwell spoke at the annual George Washington Banquet of the Benjamin Tenille Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. Caldwell said the U.S. Constitution is the supreme source of the law, and it established the separation of powers with three branches of government. As attorney general, he said he is not a policy-maker or a politician but a lawyer. "I'm running a law office now, and I made it a law office, not a political office," Caldwell said. "I'm tending to the state's business and running it like I did the district attorney's office in Tallulah for 29 years. And I've just taken that small-town, northeast Louisiana mentality of doing what you say, of keeping credibility and being a lawyer and not a politician." .....
