posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
If you would like to join a guided tour of the Biedenharn's Winslow Homer Exhibit with Executive Director Ralph Calhoun, your last chance is Tuesday, Feb. 19.

The exhibit's wood engravings and painting will soon be returned to their owners. In addition to Winslow Homer objects, Calhoun will tell the stories behind other artifacts on display including Bibles, Russian Icons and antiquities from the Mediterranean.

Winslow Homer: A Lost Painting Found offers visitors a unique opportunity to view a previously unknown Civil War painting by one of America's most prominent painters. In 1988, a previously unknown Civil War painting titled, Watching the Shot by Winslow Homer came to light.

The painting's owner, Bill Allan, has graciously loaned the work to the Biedenharn along with material describing the scientific detective work needed to confirm the painting's origin. Also included is historical information about the events depicted in the painting.
