NAFA alleges wrongdoing prior to faculty vote by Zach Parker - posted Thursday, January 24th, 2013 @ 12:00 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  The prospect of Neville High School leaving the Monroe City Schools system to operate as a charter is on hold at this time since a majority of Neville's faculty voted down a charter proposal last week. The faculty's 40-30 vote held by secret ballot on the school's campus thwarted efforts in piloting Neville to a Type-2 charter conversion. Contrary to reports in other media outlets as well as this newspaper, Type-2 charter schools are removed from the control and oversight of local school districts and report directly to the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, or BESE. The faculty gathered last week to vote per the first of two state charter law requirements, the other requiring a majority approval by parents or guardians of children enrolled in the school. .....
