NAFA alleges wrongdoing prior to faculty vote The prospect of Neville High School leaving the Monroe City Schools system to operate as a charter is on hold at this time since a majority of Neville's faculty voted down a charter proposal last week.
The faculty's 40-30 vote held by secret ballot on the school's campus thwarted efforts in piloting Neville to a Type-2 charter conversion.
Contrary to reports in other media outlets as well as this newspaper, Type-2 charter schools are removed from the control and oversight of local school districts and report directly to the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, or BESE.
