Essay content must include information about how these two events have impacted the lives of African-Americans, addressing the freedoms to which they share in today.

The contest is open to students in grades 4-12. Entries should be submitted to the Children's Department at the Main Branch library, 1800 Stubbs Ave., Monroe.
