Miss Louisiana hopes to stop show in Las Vegas

The next two weeks will be among the busiest and most exciting of Lauren Vizza's life.

The Louisiana Tech political science student is on the trip of a lifetime, bringing to a close years of work and effort. Vizza departed Monroe Tuesday for Nevada, where she will represent her state as Miss Louisiana in the Miss America Pageant Jan. 12.

Vizza said she most looked forward to showing off her Louisiana roots.
"A lot of people shy away from the stereotypes in their states," Vizza said. "I'm embracing every single one of them."

Vizza said one of Louisiana's strengths is the eclectic mix of people and cultures.
"Our state is so diverse, I want to represent that," Vizza said.
