Man arrested for attacking girlfriend, her daughter

A Monroe man suffering from psychiatric problems is accused of attacking his girlfriend and her daughter with a utility knife.

The attack took place Friday, Dec. 21, at Northgate Apartments in Monroe, according to an arrest affidavit.

Adam Clay Dumas, 25, of Monroe, was arrested and charged with seven counts, including domestic abuse, simple battery, aggravated assault and resisting an officer.

According to Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies, Dumas became enraged and beat down the door of a bedroom in which his girlfriend and her 17 year-old daughter had sought refuge.
