Police Jury budget shows $3.1-million deficit The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will start the 2013 fiscal year with a planned deficit topping $3.1 million.
At its final meeting of the year Monday night, the Police Jury unanimously approved an $82.7 million budget for the new fiscal year, which begins Jan. 1. The budget includes spending for several long-term items for which the Police Jury has been saving, according to Police Jury Finance Committee Chairman Walt Caldwell.
Caldwell said the deficit was not an indicator of poor finances.
