Police jurors hold off on garbage ordinance The unincorporated areas of Ouachita Parish will continue without mandatory garbage collection until at least March.
That's when the Ouachita Parish Police Jury is expected to take up the idea again of requiring all residents and businesses to maintain a contract with a sanitation company to dispose of solid waste.
"We're going to take this time, get out in our communities, educate the people to what we're trying to do and then bring it back in March," said Police Juror Pat Moore, who introduced the garbage collection ordinance at the Police Jury's Nov. 19 meeting. "Then, we'll come back and pass it so we can move our community forward."
The proposed ordinance was on the agenda for final adoption Monday night at the Police Jury's regular meeting.
