Reaction varies to judge's education voucher ruling The future of Gov. Bobby Jindal's scholarship program that allows public school students to attend private schools at taxpayer expense is unclear after a state district court judge in Baton Rouge ruled the funding mechanism for vouchers was unconstitutional.
Last week, 19th Judicial District Court Judge Tim Kelley ruling that using taxpayer money dedicated to the state Minimum Foundation Program improperly diverts tax dollars intended in "plain and unambiguous" terms for public schools. It also redirects local tax revenues to private schools, Kelley said.
