Shows was admitted to the hospital after a sideline collision with a football player during Friday night's quarterfinal win over Airline. Shows hit the back of his head on the turf and was momentarily unconscious. "He got a pretty big bump on the head…it was a freak accident," said Daune Shows, his wife. "He's got a spot of blood on the brain located near the front left lobe. Other than that, he's recovering well from the hit." Mrs. Shows said that Shows was awake and alert but the physicians planned to keep him under observation for the next 48-72 hours. "They want to make sure it doesn't develop into a blood clot so they're doing routine CT scans just to make sure," she said. Coach Shows visited the hospital Nov. 16 after the Rebels' second-round playoffs game due to high blood pressure but returned for practice the following week. It is unclear when Shows will be able to return to practice or whether he will be able to coach during Friday night's semi-final game against No. 2 Barbe.
