Sterlington annexes high school into town limits

The Sterlington Board of Aldermen made short work of an extensive agenda in its last regular meeting Nov. 13.

Items ranged from annexation to a utility franchise agreement to refinancing of economic development bonds.

Aldermen gave unanimous final approval to the annexation of Sterlington High School. The Ouachita Parish School Board voted in favor of the annexation in October.

While annexation carries no tax consequences for either the parish or the town, Sterlington Mayor Vern Breland said it was a matter of civic pride.
