Police Jury renames parish road — again

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury has reversed course on a plan to rename one area street in honor of Delta Community College.

At a regular meeting of the Police Jury Monday night, police jurors revisited a September decision to change the name of Vocational Parkway to College Parkway after a local businessman pressed the Police Jury to change course.

JABAR Corp. owner David Pylant told the Police Jury that his company only learned of the name change "just the other day," when Police Jury public works employees changed the road signage along Vocational Parkway to College Parkway.

"We had no prior notification that this was even being proposed," Pylant told the Police Jury.
