DeGree remembered for 'building futures'

Northeast Louisiana will say goodbye Friday to one if its most generous figures.
Philanthropist and businesswoman Kitty DeGree died last week. She was 90.

A public memorial service will be held to celebrate her life and contributions to the community beginning at 2 p.m. in the St. Francis Medical Center Auditorium at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

ULM President Nick Bruno described DeGree as "a humanitarian of remarkable character."

"Ms. Kitty was a lady who had tremendous compassion for our students and a passion for ULM and Northeast Louisiana," Bruno said.
