Arrests made in south Monroe murders posted Thursday, October 25th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  Two Shreveport men have been arrested and charged with the June 8 murders of Dexter Burkhalter and Russell Atkins. An investigation among four law enforcement agencies led to the arrest last week of Rico Collins, 33, and Demetric Whitlock, 29, both of Shreveport. Ouachita Parish investigators worked closely with Louisiana State Police, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Shreveport Police Department in making the arrests. "All of the people involved did excellent work," said OPSO Maj. Jason Pleasant. Whitlock and Collins were booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on two counts each of second degree murder.
