Arson suspected in fatal Monroe house fire

Authorities are investigating a case of arson that led to the death of a 78-year-old Monroe woman.

The fire occurred Friday at 3802 Forsythe Ave.

Monroe Fire Department officials say Francis Mitchell died in the blaze. Chief investigator David Hill of the Monroe Fire Department said the investigation into the fire was ongoing.

"It was determined to be an incendiary fire with multiple points of origin," Hill said.
Monroe Fire Department put the fire out after responding to calls at 6:29 p.m.
