Downtown RiverMarket opens by Sunny Meriwether - posted Thursday, October 11th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  Monroe's new Downtown RiverMarket is scheduled to open this weekend, with the official ribbon-cutting Thursday afternoon (today) at 5:30 p.m. The RiverMarket is an open-air market situated along the Ouachita River across from the Ouachita Parish Courthouse. City officials say vendor response to locating at the market was significant, and a big crowd is expected to turn out for the inaugural shopping day this weekend. The market will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. through December 15. Community Trust Bank sponsored the Downtown RiverMarket. CTB Senior Vice President Billy Haddad said its opening means "energy, renewal and opportunity to downtown and the riverfront." .....
