Meaty agenda awaits School Board

Two major items top the agenda for Thursday's (today) meeting of the Ouachita Parish School Board.

Board members will consider whether to revise its Reduction in Force policy and whether to submit that revision to the state Department of Education. The School Board will also hear from Sterlington Mayor Vern Breland about the town's proposal to annex Sterlington High School into town limits.

Earlier this month, State Superintendent of Education John White said Ouachita was one of 30 school districts that had not submitted a new RIF policy for department review. The original deadline was Sept. 1, but it was extended to Oct. 1 because of Hurricane Isaac.
