Matthews wrote an article entitled "An Overview of the Louisiana Library Association Academic Section 2001-2012" and a book review of "Early History of Monroe," by Sylvester Beard. Both the article and book review are published in Louisiana Libraries vol. 75 no.1, Summer 2012, pages 7-10 and 47 respectively. Matthews earned her master's degree in Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University in May 1990.
