Police Jury anticipates roll back in millages

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will roll back a number of millages for the 2012 tax year under terms of a revenue ordinance jurors will consider Monday night.

Property tax payers throughout the parish will notice an overall reduction of .09 mills when they receive tax bills later this year. But the Police Jury should not see a decline in revenues, according to Police Jury treasurer Brad Cammack.

Cammack said the revenue picture remains stable because property tax assessments have risen.

"The assessments only increased half a percent," said Cammack. "But every four years, there is a roll back. This is the roll back year."
