Lions roar to win
by Jimmy Touchet - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ouachita Lions (1-0) scored 34 points in the first half en route to a 41-12 victory over the Wossman Wildcats (0-1) at Lions Stadium last Friday.

Friday night's game was the first contest on Ouachita's new field turf which — according to Lion coach John Carr — was "dry as a bone" after Tropical Storm Isaac dumped several inches of rain for several days before kickoff.

Ouachita scored first when Cam Sims caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Diquan Wilson and kicker Jake Blake added the extra point kick to make the score 7-0 at the 10:07 mark in the first quarter.

Wossman answered with a two-yard touchdown pass from A.J. Holmes to Ladarrius Franklin. The extra point kick failed to make the score 7-6 with 6:17 left in the first quarter.
