Board avoids layoffs The Monroe City School Board will vote on a proposed balanced budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year at its Sept. 11 meeting.
Interim Superintendent Derenda Flowers presented the budget to the School Board Finance Committee Tuesday.
The School Board has struggled to develop a budget since May, when former Superintendent Kathleen Harris submitted several proposed spending plans.
School Board Finance Committee chairman Vickie Krutzer said the various budgets Harris submitted were all between $1 million and $2 million out of balance.
