OPSO traffic stop nets 22 pounds of cocaine

A Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office deputy is getting the credit for a massive drug bust that netted some 22 pounds of cocaine.

The bust took place in the early morning hours Tuesday, when an OPSO patrolman observed a 2005 Dodge Durango commit a traffic offense.

The deputy, who was not named, performed a routine traffic stop and made contact with the driver. That's when events turned, according to OPSO Dy. Cody Ibanez.

"After making contact with the driver, the deputy learned that the driver had no driver's license and was also hesitant in answering questions," Ibanez said in a prepared news release.
