Home invasion hospitalizes victim

A home invasion in Eros sent a woman to the hospital and the alleged perpetrator to jail.

Clifton Hayden Caughlin, 30, of Eros, was arrested on a single charge of home invasion and booked into Ouachita Correctional Center.

On the night of Aug. 30, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call at a residence on Chad Drive, in Eros. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim with trauma to her face.

"The victim stated that a white male gained entry into her home and beat her in the face while she was in bed," said OPSO investigator Randy Evans. "She said the suspect then grabbed her medicine bag from her nightstand, then fled the residence."
