Neville travels to face I-20 rival Ruston on Friday

The Neville Tigers will start their quest to defend their Class 4A state championship on Friday night with a trip down I-20 to archrival Ruston. In the early 1980's, the Neville versus Ruston matchup was the top contest in the state year after year.

This year promises game promises to return this rivalry to its glory days and is one of Northeast Louisiana top match-ups at the Tigers and Bearcats will square off in the season opener for both schools at 7:00 p.m.

The Neville at Ruston game can be heard on STAR 101.9 FM with Neal Shaw calling the play-by-play, Stewart Shelby offering color commentary and Frank Neetles delivering sideline reports on the Tigers.

Last year, the Bearcats ran into a buzz saw as the Neville Tigers crushed Ruston 42-6 at Neville's Bill Ruple Stadium.
