The Isaac Shuffle - prep teams reschedule games With Tropical Storm Isaac looming, parish coaches are on the phones and assessing the best possible time to play their regular season opening games.
West Monroe High School has moved their season home opener against C.E. Byrd from Friday 7:00 p.m. to Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
With Monroe City and Ouachita Parish schools being closed on Thursday, coaches are adjusting their practice schedules as well.

West Monroe Hall of Fame Coach Don Shows, who was released from the hospital on Wednesday, stated that he, Coach Jerry Arledge and the rest of the Rebels coaching staff are assessing the weather to come up with the best time to practice on Thursday.
"Right now, it looks like morning before the major rain gets here," said Shows. "Like everyone else, we are just monitoring the weather to see the safest time to practice."
For St. Frederick and Ouachita Christian, the decision to move their Friday night games to Saturday was based on the fact of giving their natural grass playing surfaces time to drain for any excess rainfall that might be coming our way.
"I talked with the Franklin Parish coach, and we have decided to move our game to Saturday at 6:00 p.m.," said OCS coach Steven Fitzhugh.
The Caldwell Parish game at Delhi has been moved from Friday to Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
For the past decade in Louisiana, the start of high school football season seems to always be met with an obstacle that requires reshuffling of schedules for area teams.
Whether it be, the threat of West Nile or Hurricanes Lilli, Katrina, Rita, Ike, Gustav and now the latest event Tropical storm Isaac, parish coaches have become accustomed to the "Play when you can" reality.
At press time, the Neville at Ruston, Wossman at Ouachita, Sterlington at Benton and West Ouachita at Pineville games were still on schedule to be played on Friday, August 31 at 7:00 p.m. According to the River Oaks website, their game at Jackson Academy is still on schedule for 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday, but their junior varsity game against Glenbrook has been rescheduled to September 24.
